Paneled Timber Bridge

In order to produce a Paneled Timber Bridge the following information is required:

 End to End Sequence

Complete bridge layout showing panels one end to the next, labeled to indicate starting point or first panel installed to finishing point (ex: A 12 panel bridge, panel 1 to 12, to be installed East to West, start with panel #1). (See Figure 1)

  1. Length of Panels
  2. Panel lenghts are usually 8’ to 16’. The panel length will be influenced by bridge steel structure, equipment limitations and transportation. (See Figures 2A to 2C)

  3. Number of Timbers Per Panel
  4. The number of timbers will be determined by the center to center bridge timber spacing, panel length, and steel structure. (See Figures 2A to 2C)

  5. Guard Plank Types
  1. Timber Guard Logs-6"x8" or other dimensions fastened to timber with bolts or lag screws. (See Diagram A)
  2.  Timber Guard Logs-Ends ship-lapped to facilitate attachment to next panel. (See Diagram B)

  3. Timber Guard Logs-6"x8" or other dimensions dapped for each bridge timber and fastened down

with bolts or lag screws. (See Diagram C)
