Post and Board Fence WHY WE USE SOUTHERN YELLOW PINE? Southern Yellow Pine, sometimes called "hard pine", is the term applied to a group of several pines which include Longleaf, Short leaf, Loblolly and Virginia Pines. These pines are some of the strongest commercial domestic woods and accept preservative treatment better than most. Southern Yellow Pine also resists breakage when being driven with a post driver because the branches do not radiate from one central location on the stem, as do the branches of the Northern Red and White Pines. Southern Yellow Pine is the species of choice of many Engineers and Architects. |
